To bring the Declaration to life and ensure that its principles result in meaningful and lasting impact, Hinemoana Halo has partnered with New York University’s More-Than-Human Life (MOTH) Program, and Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative).

The partnership leverages MOTH’s internationally recognized expertise in protecting the rights and wellbeing of nonhuman animals and ecosystems through novel legal frameworks, as well as CETI’s leading role in deploying cutting-edge science and technology to translate whale language. 

Bringing together Indigenous leadership, legal innovation, and cutting-edge whale communication science in service of ecological and interspecies justice, this groundbreaking, discipline-spanning collaboration aims to implement the Declaration both on the ground and across global waters.
